About Me
I am a scientist, teacher, and a science communicator based in Pittsburgh, PA. I am studying how Herpes Simplex Virus type 1 (HSV-1) invades host cells to replicate, spread, and produce new virus particles. To replicate its genetic information, HSV-1 utilizes their own replication machinery to copy their genomes but also, exploit cellular machinery and resources to aid in this process. My favorite part of science is sharing what I've learned with others! Whether it's giving a presentation, writing a blog post, or using social media, I am an advocate for science communication!
In 2019, I earned a B.S. in Biology with a concentration in Cell and Molecular Biology at Saint Vincent College. I am currently working towards Ph.D. candidacy at Duquesne University where I am working in the Dembowski Lab (www.dembowskilab.com). In my free time, I go hiking, ride bikes, and work out. |
